When my ears stand up, I'm handsome

They'll stand for awhile.....

Mom whispers to Mac "If you make both ears stand up all the time, you won't have to wear that silly stuff on and between your ears.  It's all up to you....".

Mac goes home to see his birth mom and brother

Mac meets his mom (Sandy of Boundary Waters Schnauzers on left) and his brother "Hank".

Hank has not received a lot of socialization outside of his original pack, he's a little skittish.

Hank has not been groomed since birth, he's a rag-a-muffin.

Sandy, Hank, Mac, and Kailyn

Sandy is giving Mac his first formal Schnauzer grooming, teaching Cindy and Kailyn the grooming techniques along the way.

Mac gave a growl and a snip, and Sandy says "We don't do that!"

Sandy and Mac exchange kisses when the grooming is over.

No one is worse for wear

The wife and her new man

He's still a pup but growin' up fast.  We're still waiting for his left ear to completely post up, so he still wears that silly contraption on his head.  He went to the vet the other day, he's 35 pounds!

Our New Leash Organizer

"RING'n THE BELL's means "TAKE ME OUT"

Kailyn and I finished up and hung the dog leash organizer, no longer will we have to search the house for a leash.  We will place pictures of each pup in their respective "dog houses" (left and right).  We're also training the boys to ring the bells (center) to communicate their need to go "pee poop".

Since everyone is going their own direction Kailyn, Cindy, and I (at all times of the day and night); we've also incorporated a dry erase marker board to clearly communicate potty activities and feeding status during the day.

O.K., I'll Feed Myself -- If I Have Too!

Dad Hears
Mac Said
Bark, Bark, Bark
Feed me !  Get my dish off the wash machine
Scratch, Scratch, Bark, Bark,
It's right over here! I jumped up and down my claws making noise on the side of the washing machine.
Crate making rattling noises
O.K. I will just jump up on my crate, and then jump over to the wash machine and get what food is left in the dish
Bark, Bark, Bark
My reach exceeds my grasp, I can get up but I can't get down.  Dad come and get me
Bark, Bark, Jump, Jump
Finally, (stupid human) I guess he's slow, but trainable,.  He Fed me!

We're still learning to get along

This is not the first time the pup's have played together, it's just I had a camera in hand to record the event in daylight.

Both pups are just like any other siblings. They share and play together well for awhile, then one or the other decides not to share the toy, and a brief round of "catch me if you can" ensues.

Territorial boundaries have yet to be clearly established, these are good steps in that direction.

My Ears After 1 Week of Taping

Sandy --

We just took the tape off after having it on for one week.  See the picture below and let us know how you think things are progressing.  Please leave comments on this blog and/or email them to us. Reminder, you can click on any picture for a full size rendering.

For the first few minutes, things are lookin' gooood!

After a few minutes, his ear falls back over.
