David talked to Jasper's vet Darren Steele today at 9:20. They discussed the current approach -- neutering Jasper would reduce the likelihood of male vs. male conflicts in the home, one puppy six of eight grows up.
Darren concurred with the breeder's suggestion, and said we could schedule the surgery as early as tomorrow (Wednesday).
Darren also offered advice for integrating the newest member of the family into the fold, and suggested we discuss dog training classes with Debbie (the office manager) who shows Golden Retrievers.
Debbie suggested Paws for Fun for obedience and show confirmation training. Debbie has used them for years, and takes each of her new show pups there for training.
David scheduled Jasper's surgery for tomorrow, and charged Cindy with dropping him off at 7:30am.

Things are moving F A S T...
We've made an appointment for 9:20 am tomorrow at Westwood Hospital for Animals, to discuss neutering Jasper in preparation for puppy 6 of 8's arrival.
The breeder was extremely concerned about having two "fully functional" males in the home, she thought there would be a high likelihood of territorial problems as 6 of 8 grew older and larger.
Given that 6 of 8 is show quality, Jasper ends up being "low man on the totem pole".
We'll discuss the validity of the breeders concerns with our vet, and discuss next steps and timing.
